Become a GLORY GIRL™!

GG+You=Blessings!

Should I be a member or a facilitator? The primary requirements for each is that you have a passion for reading, want to share Godly books with others, that you read all of the selected books and that you come to the meetings (there are only 6 a year!)

Facilitators

If you decide to be a blessing by becoming a group leader (facilitator), we help you organize the group and the meetings as well as provide suggested book discussion questions.

Facilitators help us out by ushering the meeting discussions along, keeping good membership information, interfacing with GLORY GIRLS™ headquarters, passing along info from GLORY GIRLS™ Facilitator Newsletters and, in general, being a blessing to the ladies in your group. For optimal communication between members and headquarters, facilitators must have e-mail capability.

Once a year, groups decide who they want their facilitator to be for the next year. You may be the facilitator for as long and as often as the group likes!

Facilitators are
a vital component of GLORY GIRLS™.

Although you will have some responsibilities, being a part of the group should be fun for you too! You MUST have e-mail capability and we ask that you commit to the group for one year. When your year is up you should attempt to rotate the facilitator role within the group.

As a facilitator you are expected to:

  • be enthusiastic and operate out of a love for God and the members over whom you are a steward
  • read every book chosen as a Glory Girls Selection
  • facilitate meetings (not control, rule or do all the talking) making sure everyone gets a chance to be heard! (More about this later.)
  • make sure that each member is aware of the day and time chosen for the GG meetings.
  • print a copy of the GLORY GIRLS™ Reading Guide questions for the meetings (Available on on this website)
  • make sure that GLORY GIRLS™ headquarters always has a current list of the GG group members of the GG group that you serve as faciltator; including names, addresses, and e-mail addresses FOR EACH MEMBER.
  • start and end meetings on time.

Although we provide a structure for GG meetings, we really want the meetings to have a feel of being very informal. This will depend a lot on your attitude. Always remember that your goal as a GG Facilitator (and ours) is to be a blessing to the members of the GG group. After each meeting, you should ask yourself if you have met your goal!

When and How to Begin as a Facilitator

There is no better time to begin recruiting for your group than now! Be enthusiastic! We know you love God and we know you like to read! Let people know about GLORY GIRLS™ .

Approach friends, neighbors and relatives at church, work or socially to be a part of the group. Make sure to let them know that the focus of the group is Christian books and that they will be expected to READ and DISCUSS them. Your group members are expected to attend at least 4 of the 6 yearly group meetings. You may continue to add people to your group until you reach 12.

After you have recruited enough GLORY GIRLS to start your own GG Chapter, please contact us. Be sure to include full names, addresses (including e-mail addresses) for each of your members. Once headquarters receives your list, you will be contacted with the next steps.

Members

Members are required to attend 4 out of the 6 yearly meetings. Remember, membership is free!

If you already belong to another group... No problem! If you want to add quality Christian books to your reading on a more consistent basis we do not mind at all if you are also a member of another reading club. You can enjoy other reading choices and then, every other month, fellowship, share and be blessed along with other GLORY GIRLS™ across America (and Europe!)--in homes, churches, and bookstores--as they enjoy entertaining and spiritually edifying books. Remember, all members are expected to attend the four-to-six yearly GG meetings.

To become a member, please contact us. Upon receiving your information, we will check our database and provide you with the GLORY GIRLS group nearest you.

For Authors:

Want GG to Choose Your Book™ If you are an author or a publisher and you would like for your Christian fiction or non-fiction book to be considered by GLORY GIRLS™ for inclusion in our national reading groups it is easy!

Each month, GLORY GIRLS™ headquarters randomly selects several active GLORY GIRLS™ members and sends each of them books to evaluate . These member/readers, along with members of the GLORY GIRLS™ volunteer staff decide which books are selected. We are looking for four things:

  1. Does the book have a Christian sensibility and glorify the God of the Bible
  2. For fiction, does at least one of the main characters demonstrate his or her love for God and do they clearly have a strong desire to lead an active Christian life? For non-fiction does the book clearly lift up the Name of Jesus?
  3. Is there a good story involved?
  4. Are the Holy Scriptures used in the work in the proper context and manner? In addition, if you are a small publisher or are self- published you must include information detailing the book's national distribution.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to respond to your submissions nor will we be able to return books. You will however be notified if your book is chosen to be a bi-monthly "Selection" or if GLORY GIRLS™ decides to "recommend" your book to members.

Mail three copies of each work to be considered along with a press kit and contact info to: Glory Girls™,   P.O. Box 250034,  West Bloomfield, MI  48235

God bless you!
